About
UTSURI
UTSURI — 移り・映り・移ろい — is a Japanese word for change while it is still happening. A season half-turned. The same room at four o'clock and at six. A color you notice only once it has already changed.
The name is almost an instruction: look again. The shirts are made the same way — nothing shouts, and there's more on the second look.
Meaning first
Every UTSURI piece starts with a single idea, written in kanji — its meaning, its reading, and the story behind it. We design from that story rather than print it on top. At a glance the shirt is quiet and plain. It is made to reward a longer look.
The hidden animal
In every design, an animal is hidden in the brushstrokes — picked to fit the meaning, and placed so it takes a moment to spot. Never a mascot, never loud. A small detail that waits to be found, and gives you something to say when someone asks what you're wearing.
Made to order
Each shirt is printed for you, one at a time, at the facility nearest you. Nothing sits in a warehouse; nothing is made until you order it. We ship worldwide.
A Japanese label
UTSURI is Japanese — in the characters it uses, the stories behind them, and the way it asks you to look.
Finding beauty in what is passing.
