侍 (samurai) comes from a verb meaning "to serve" — a warrior who serves a lord, a cause, a code. It's the word behind bushidō, 武士道, the way of the warrior.

Look into the brushwork and a hawk appears. In Japan, hawks were bred and trained by samurai lords themselves — falconry, 鷹狩り (takagari), was a privilege of the warrior class for centuries. There's an old proverb: 能ある鷹は爪を隠す — "the skilled hawk hides its talons." Real strength doesn't announce itself.

The rest of our tees keep to a single print. This one breaks the pattern — a small mark on the chest, and 侍 across the back at full size.
